What is Airbrush Tanning?

• Airbrush spray tanning is the latest trend to hit the tanning industry. A spray tan technician uses a spray gun to apply a tanning solution (DHA) to the client's body. The immediate color you will see is the 'bronzer' added to the solution for two purposes: Instant gratification for the client, and as a visual guide for the spray tan technician. After waiting 8-12 hours, you can shower and the bronzer washes off while your tan that has been developing will remain. If you follow my airbrush tanning tips you'll be able to maximize your results! 

 ​Is it safe?

• Yes, sunless tanning is a safe and proven method of obtaining a tan. The FDA has approved DHA in cosmetics for over 50 years. As with any personal product, sensitivity can occur but it is very rare. When DHA comes in contact with the amino acids of the skin, it creates a natural chemical reaction that causes the skin to appear tanned.

​How long does a session take?

• Full body sessions take approximately 20 minutes. I spray you and we dry as we go, with a few minutes of drying at the end as well. My clients appreciate the extra time & attention. 

​Will it work on fair-skinned people?

• Yes! I have very satisfied customers who were formerly lily white and now enjoy a natural bronze look!

​What do I wear during my session?

• This is an individual choice. You can wear a bikini, swimsuit, thong or bra and panties, or go nude. It is entirely up to you. *Male clients must wear some form of undergarment. AFTER your session, wear loose-fitting, dark colored clothing & flip-flops. Tight or rough clothes, like jeans, can rub on your skin and reduce the effect of your tan. The tanning solution may stain silk, wool & synthetic fabrics, so these should not be worn in the first 24 hours after your spray tan session. Limit physical activity for 8-12 hours following your session. Do not shower or get wet for at least 8 hours after your session (2-4 hours for Rapid Tan).

​How long does an airbrush spray tan last?

• Depending on your skin type, your tan will last 7-12 days. Like a suntan, the sunless tan will fade gradually as your skin exfoliates naturally. However, you can help to extend the life of your tan by using moisturizers daily. We also offer a line of tan extender lotions that contain the same formulation of DHA as the spray tan solution which are ideal for our clients who wish to extetnd the life and quality of their spray tan.

​Does spray tanning protect me from the sun?

• No, spray tanning does not protect you from the sun. Use sunscreen daily.

​I am pregnant. Can I get an airbrush tan?

• ​Pregnant clients can read the FDA guidelines for themselves and decided whether they feel spray tanning is a safe option for them during their pregnancy.
